A drunk, undocumented immigrant who caused a deadly wrong-way crash that killed a Las Vegas police officer was nearly three times over the legal limit, according to a recent report.
Fernando Jimenez-Jimenez, 31, slammed into 29-year-old Officer Colton Pulsipher’s vehicle on December 12, 2024. The crash killed both men, KLAS reported.
Newly released documents show Jimenez-Jimenez had a blood-alcohol content of 0.205—well above Nevada’s legal limit of 0.08. He also had THC, marijuana’s main psychoactive chemical, in his system and was driving at speeds between 91 and 99 mph.
Jimenez-Jimenez had previously applied for U.S. citizenship in 2020, but a Texas judge ordered his removal in 2021. Immigration officials returned him to Mexico, twice in 2019 after he entered the country illegally.
Officer Colton Pulsipher, who was off duty and driving home, was a husband and father of three. The fatal crash cut his life short.
A third person was injured after colliding with Jimenez-Jimenez’s truck moments after the initial impact. Authorities also found a man who had been in the passenger seat of Jimenez-Jimenez’s truck. That man reportedly walked off into the desert and was discovered asleep nine hours later.
The passenger told police that both he and Jimenez-Jimenez worked for a landscaping company and had driven into the desert specifically to drink.
Inside the truck, investigators discovered several empty alcohol containers along with receipts and packaging from a marijuana dispensary.
Police later obtained video footage showing Jimenez-Jimenez and his passenger buying marijuana at a drive-thru dispensary. The video also captured Jimenez-Jimenez smoking while behind the wheel.
Although the truck wasn’t registered in Jimenez-Jimenez’s name, the registered owner never contacted law enforcement, according to the documents.
