The VOICES: podcast – episode 1

It’s finally happened. We’ve launched the podcast.

We hope you enjoy the first installment of the VOICES: River City podcast, hosted by Sacramento journalist Anthony Siino.

In this episode, Siino and editor Dave Kempa discuss the concept and principles behind the VOICES: website and podcast. Then reporter Juli Boggs talks with Anthony about the raucous Sacramento City Council meeting where officials sought to impose provisions against picketing in residential areas. We hear from Jordan Schauberger, an up-and-coming sports writer discussing his decision to stop following the NFL. And then we round out the episode with an interview with musician Damien Verrett, the man behind So Much Light. Special thanks to Verrett for the go-ahead to use a couple of his tracks in our intro and outro.

It’s a great first episode, and I’m ecstatic about Siino’s editing and hosting abilities. You’ll notice that my (Kempa’s) phone interviews do not have the greatest audio quality. I’ll be working to improve on that in the coming weeks.

The Voices: River City podcast will be hosted on Podbean. Our iTunes permissions are pending. We’ll let you know when that’s squared away.
