Voices: River City, Episode 26: The K-Hole

In this episode of the VOICES: River City podcast, Skyler and Kempa discuss the end of California Senator Kamala Harris’s 2020 presidential run. We also touch on the Sacramento for Real Rent Control coalition’s preparations to take Mayor Darrell Steinberg, Councilmember Steve Hansen and the rest of city council to court for not respecting the will of the constituency and putting the rent control initiative on the 2020 ballot. Since Sacramento Bee opinion editor Gil Duran hinted in an editorial piece that Steinberg (a former colleague of Duran’s) and city hall should fight their constituency, we expect to see this one go to the mat.

Finally, we discuss how California’s Democratic supermajority is forcing business to be creative in its dealings at the Capitol, and what that means for the future of a unified Left in California.

Give it a listen, and check out the artists behind our intro and outro jingles, Be Brave Bold Robot, as they play this Friday at Fox & Goose Public House in a fundraiser for SAC SAFE SPACE
